AP Art and Design Program College Board

ap art and design

As always, you have the flexibility to organize the course content as you like. Make works of art and design by practicing, experimenting, and revising. Students upload images of their work over the course of the year, creating a digital portfolio. You’ll submit your portfolio digitally using the AP Digital Portfolio. Use the timeline to help you complete and submit your portfolio by the deadline.

What Will You Learn in AP 3-D Art and Design?

Learn how project based AP courses take you beyond the textbook and into a world of learning through hands-on exploration. Below is an overview of the steps you’ll need to take to submit your AP Art and Design portfolio components to the AP Program through the AP Digital Portfolio. The college admission landscape is a constant source of frustration, confusion, and anxiety for students who are eager to make the most of their college experience. The AdmissionSight team is a specialist in the field that’s helped hundreds of students achieve their academic goals by getting into the universities of their dreams. Go to AP Central to review sample portfolios and scoring information from past years. If there is a wide divergence in the scores assigned by two readers to the same section of a portfolio, the section is forwarded to two Reading leaders for review and resolution of the scores.

Quality

This section allows you to showcase your creativity, originality, and ability to develop a personal artistic voice. AP resources are designed to support all students and teachers—with daily instruction, practice, and feedback to help cover and connect content and skills—in any learning environment. Students develop the skills that artists and designers use, and create a portfolio of work that is assessed to produce their AP score.

Stay Updated on Exam Changes:

To learn more about the course visit the AP 2-D Art and Design course page. It refers to the overall excellence and technical proficiency demonstrated in the artwork. Evaluators look for mastery of materials, precise execution, and attention to detail. A high level of craftsmanship and effective use of color, composition, and design principles are all factors that contribute to the assessment of quality.

ap art and design

You’ll submit a portfolio of artwork for evaluation at the end of the school year. The hardest part about creating a portfolio is sticking to a routine. Decide on one hour every day that you can dedicate to brainstorming or creating your next piece.

Do a final review of your work.

In the 2016 administration, 18,407 students took the exam with 21 students earning a perfect score of 72/72. Focus is applied on the composition of the different lines/colors/shape/etc... Originally called AP Studio Art, it was later changed to AP Studio Art Drawing.

Collaborate and Share Ideas:

In an AP Art and Design course, you’ll practice and develop the skills that artists and designers use. See examples of real student work at the 2021 AP Art and Design Exhibit, which showcases outstanding artwork created by students for the May 2021 exam. See examples of student work in the 2023 AP Art and Design Exhibit, which showcases outstanding artwork created by students for the May 2023 exam.

Once you join your AP class section online, you’ll be able to access AP Daily videos in AP Classroom. The AP Daily videos cover every skill outlined in the AP Art and Design Course and Exam Description. You can use these on your own for additional support as you prepare for your assessment task models. You’ll explore why and how artists and designers present their work to viewers. You’ll learn how artists and designers decide what to make and why and how to make it. These committees, made up of an equal number of college faculty and experienced secondary AP teachers from across the country, are essential to the preparation of AP course curricula and exams.

The use of Artificial Intelligence tools is prohibited at any stage of the creative process. You’ll create a portfolio of college-level work and submit it for evaluation (instead of taking a year-end paper-and-pencil AP Exam). A qualifying portfolio score can earn you college credit, advanced placement, or both. The exam is scored by a team of AP College Board readers, and each section of the rubric is scored separately and then averaged by a statistician to give a final score. When it comes to composition, the exam assesses your ability to arrange elements within the frame of your artwork in a visually pleasing and effective way. You must demonstrate your understanding of concepts such as the rule of thirds, focal points, and leading lines.

AP Art and Design skill categories delineate overarching understandings central to the study and practice of art and design. Each of the three skill categories consists of skills that encompass foundational to advanced learning over the span of the course. Students need to develop, practice, and apply these skills in a variety of contexts. Part B of the Breadth section delves deeper into the investigation of visual ideas. In addition to submitting 12 digital images, students must provide written documentation accompanying each image. This documentation should articulate the thought process, inspiration, and conceptual development behind each piece.

This section showcases your versatility as an artist and ability to work with different mediums, styles, and subject matters. You will be required to create at least 12 artworks that explore a variety of 2-D design principles, such as composition, balance, contrast, and color harmony. These artworks should demonstrate your understanding of the elements and principles of design and your ability to apply them effectively in your work. Develop your 2-D skills through materials and processes such as graphic design, photography, collage, printmaking, fashion illustration, and others. You’ll create artwork that reflects your own ideas and skills and what you’ve learned.

In AP 3-D Art and Design you’ll learn how to create art in different disciplines such as sculpture, architectural rendering, metal work, ceramics, and others. At the end of the course you’ll submit a portfolio that demonstrates your knowledge of art skills using three-dimensional materials. To learn more about the course visit the AP 3-D Art and Design course page. Each exhibit showcases outstanding artwork created by students who submitted portfolios for the AP Art and Design Exams.

Alaska cruise packing list: What to pack for a cruise up north

what to pack alaska cruise

Oral Hygiene ProductsWhen packing for your Alaskan cruise, it’s important to include some essential oral hygiene products. Bring a toothbrush, toothpaste (or powder), floss, and mouthwash that will keep you feeling fresh throughout the voyage. Hair ProductsWhile Alaska is stocked full of plenty of shops in the ports all selling hair supplies including shampoos, conditioners, oils, etc., it’s best to bring your own from home. The shops near the cruise terminals charge exorbitant prices for these basic necessities, so you can save yourself a lot of money by packing your own. Forget Croc’s clunky (but comfy) clogs — the Croc Splash Sandals are small, strappy, and still super comfy to wear.

Cruise Cabin Essentials

However, some people still love to dress up on formal night. But like I said earlier, it’s less common on Alaska cruises. Long days spent touring, abundant daylight and getting your body clock adjusted all lean towards casual. Even though your cruise ship will still have two formal nights, unless you’re on a luxury cruise, typical “formal” isn’t over the top on an Alaska cruise. My Alaska packing list covers everything you’ll need to pack for a 7-day Alaska cruise, like my Holland America Eurodam Inside Passage cruise. If your cruise is longer or you’ve chosen a cruise and tour, I also include how and what to pack.

What to Pack for an Alaskan Cruise

Speaking from experience, you’re going to need some functional, hiking-type all-terrain pants and shorts for an Alaska cruise. Go from pants to shorts to pants again with these convertible, quick-drying bottoms (and take up less room in your suitcase, too). Taking a page from our “less is more” cruise packing manual, these pants pull double wardrobe duty. The zip-off bottoms might seem a bit dorky at first, but function over fashion is where it’s at when you’re gallivanting around the Great Outdoors.

Pros and cons of small-ship cruising in Alaska - The Points Guy

Pros and cons of small-ship cruising in Alaska.

Yes, you will be visiting some places where the weather might be chillier than back home, but you will not encounter truly Arctic conditions. Away from the viewing sites of magnificent glaciers and icefields that brought you to Alaska, you might even encounter weather suitable for shorts and T-shirts. But recently I started to always pack this basic, super-simple folding small travel alarm clock with me.

Leave plenty of time to make it to the airport on disembarkation day

This section provides the building blocks on what to pack for your Alaska cruise for a memorable and comfortable voyage. The trusted travel pros at Alaska Tours appreciate the Alaska cruise ship travel attraction. And they help you sift through many on- and off-ship excursions and destinations. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll unpack what to pack for an Alaska cruise, covering practical and personal necessities.

what to pack alaska cruise

I’ve cruised Alaska up and down the Inside Passage at least a dozen times plus four cross-Gulf voyages. My cruises to Alaska happened in every month of the cruise season. How to pack for an Alaska cruise in still-chilly May, in hot and buggy mid-July or possibly rainy September, all follow my basic packing guidelines. Although Alaska cruises tend to be less dressy than Caribbean cruises, most Alaska cruises have formal nights, elegant or chic nights. For ladies, a longer sleeve cocktail dress, gown or pantsuit is perfect. Since the weather in Alaska is unpredictable and can vary, the best way to dress for days on land is by layering your clothing.

Don’t forget essentials such as gloves, a warm hat, and sunglasses. Alaska can have its hot days too in the summer, so be sure to leave room for a swimsuit, some shorts, and a couple of lighter outfits. These packing lists for both men and women have been designed for a 10-day cruise without the use of laundry services while onboard. Depending on the length of your trip and whether or not you’ll be budgeting time to do laundry, you may need more or less clothing than what I’ve listed below. Important Travel Documents (& Copies!)When putting together your Alaska cruise packing list, it’s important to bring all of the necessary documents with you.

Waterproof Dry Bag

Typically, June and July are the warmest months of the Alaska cruise season, with lows in the 40’s to highs in mid 60’s F. If you cruise to Alaska early in the season at the end of April or May, be prepared for the weather to be cooler than the summer months. If you're intent on a Gulf of Alaska cruise, book a northbound route so you'll cruise the Gulf at the end of the trip when you have your sea legs. If you get seasick easily, also think twice about round-trip cruises from Seattle that spend days cruising in the open ocean.

Cruise Dinner Dress

Even during the peak summer months, early mornings can be chilly. Include a few short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirts that you can wear under a lightweight down vest or jacket. I prefer these to a fleece because they roll up to almost nothing and are easier to tuck away in a daypack rather than a bulkier fleece, but either option will do should the mercury dip. Consider also packing a multipurpose scarf, as it can transition from an accessory to keeping you warm as a head wrap, mini blanket or even a pillow on planes and buses. Even if you are a pro at packing for a Caribbean cruise, an Alaska cruise is a different experience and you may have trouble deciding what to pack.

Build an Alaska cruise wardrobe essentials set that can go from day to night. Always aim for comfort and the ability to move quickly during your cruise adventure. Daytime calls for casual clothes so you can explore freely.

Make sure to get strong hooks that can hold a coat and not just slide down the door. Just keep in mind that these can leave marks on the door if you pull on them. You may want to bring along a Magic Eraser to clean those off. On most itineraries, you will arrive in port in the morning. While it could be tempting to sleep in, we advise starting your port day earlier rather than later. Although the service comes with a small fee in addition to any airline baggage fees, it offers unparalleled convenience for travelers.

You’ve found the right luggage combos and packed all the essentials. With extensive expertise in crafting unforgettable cruise experiences, Alaska Tours is committed to guiding travelers to the right trip. All offer the chance to explore this magnificent state in style and comfort, on and off the cruise ship. When packing for an Alaska cruise, we recommend bringing a pair of sneakers that are water resistant.

7-Day Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

cruise to cozumel from new orleans

From May 26 to June 2, the ship will stop in Key West, Freeport and Nassau before returning to the Crescent City. These are the destinations that the Carnival will be traveling to from New Orleans in 2024. Other spaces, including the casino, spa and youth area, were redesigned. Frequent cruisers may notice the new decor and furnishings across all public areas on the ship.

Day 6: Cozumel

If you leave home with exactly enough time to get to the port for the tail end of embarkation, you're asking for trouble. Progreso (Merida), Mexico, this beach paradise is simply 20 minutes from downtown Merida, a straight drive or a simple bus ride to the downtown area and just a 3 minute walk from the beach. You can take a boat trip on the "ria" and admire hundreds of flamingos and up to 320 species of birds.

Amazing experiences coming soon.

At Dive-In Movies, you’ll never have to choose between making a splash and watching a favorite movie under the stars, up on the big screen. And our Punchliner™ Comedy Club will have you laughing your flippy-floppies off.. Furthermore, Cruise Critic makes no guarantees for availability of prices advertised on our site. Listed prices may have blackout dates, qualifications or restrictions.

Carnival Liberty will set sail from New Orleans this summer to beach vacation destinations

Immerse yourself in the city's vibrant neighborhoods, indulge in delectable Creole and Cajun flavors, and experience the lively nightlife that pulses through its streets. From exploring historical landmarks to enjoying world-class music, New Orleans provides an unforgettable prelude to your Caribbean adventure. As you board your luxurious cruise ship in New Orleans, you'll be greeted by a warm and friendly crew ready to cater to your every need.

cruise to cozumel from new orleans

Western Caribbean cruises are also offered later in the summer. One takes place June 30 to July 7 and July 28 to August 4 and sails through Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel. The ship will sail out of New Orleans several times this summer for seven-day itineraries to the Eastern or Western Caribbean, according to a recent news release from Carnival. Kids can get caught up in all the excitement of being kids, hanging with others their age at Carnival Valor\'s three supervised youth spaces. Or they can join the wacky, wonderful Dr. Seuss bunch for character story-time (and more!) at Seuss at Sea. And pretty much anyone, young or slightly-less-young, will be thrilled by our 214-foot long, four-deck-tall Twister waterslide.

Onboard Dining

Cozumel has three piers, all of which are found on the built-up western side of the island. Punta Langosta is ideally situated in downtown San Miguel. The International Pier, the oldest cruise ship pier on the island, is located about 3 miles from San Miguel (a long but scenic and safe walk). Carnival Corp.'s Puerta Maya, located about 5 miles from San Miguel, acts as a standalone destination, with restaurants, jewelry stores, local craft carts and a beach.

Imagine the feeling of missing a train or a flight let alone your seven-day cruise vacation. Even if you don't hit traffic, flight delays or a plague of other travel complications, watching the clock until you step foot on the gangway is not a relaxing way to kick off your trip. Or see the Dzibilchaltún Mayan ruins which is only 30 minutes from the port. The island of Cozumel off the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula continues to be known for its fantastic fishing, snorkeling and diving opportunities.

To ensure a quick check-in process, fill out all of your information online with your cruise line before arriving at the port. Upon arrival at the terminal, have your personal identification ready for the cruise agent. Although passports are not required for passengers sailing from and returning to a U.S. city, valid passports are recommended for all travelers visiting ports outside of the U.S. Those countries may not allow entry into their destinations without a passport in hand. Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site. Rates are in USD and valid for US and Canadian residents only.

Cool off with a michelada, made with beer and freshly squeezed lime juice over ice in a salt-rimmed glass. Or keep it traditional with Mexico’s signature spirit, tequila. At Chankanaab National Park, you’ll find everything from snorkeling and scuba to swimming with dolphins. On the entertainment side of things, Carnival Liberty features two of our best, live on stage. First there's Playlist Productions™, where pros sing and dance their hearts out, performing high-energy themed revues of tunes you know, backed by amazing visual effects.

Arrival and departure times are approximate and may vary by sailing. Hashtag your cruise photos #carnival and #cozumel — you may see them right here. Shore excursions on the island of Harvest Caye are varied. Explore saltwater mangrove estuaries to see wildlife and flora. The last seven-day Western Caribbean cruise travels to Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel on July 14-21, August and August 25 to September 1. Other dates for this itinerary are July 7-14 and August 4-11.

Shore excursions in Belize offer a wide selection of adventures. Another ship, Carnival Glory, went on an over two-week-long hiatus to upgrade several spots on the ship, the news release said. A new bar and lounge dedicated to Army veterans and active duty military and a photography studio are some of the latest additions.

For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. In addition, average cruise prices are updated nightly. Cozumel is an island off the coast of Mexico, and its tropical climate is always warm so any month is good for a cruise. The average high temperature in January is 83 degrees, and 91 degrees in August. The dry season is from December to April, so that is the best time of year to visit.

Schedule Adjustment to Avoid the Lock Workers Strike

The world-famous fortress towers above the Neckar Valley and its cellars contain the Heidelberg Tun, the world’s largest wine barrel. After touring the castle, we had plenty of time on our own to explore the Old City with its countless shops and boutiques, stroll along the waterfront, and relax at an outdoor café while sampling German beers. Cruises along the legendary Rhine are filled with centuries-old castles, Gothic cathedrals, terraced vineyards, storybook villages, meandering canals, and culinary delights. There’s so much to see and do along this route, as I was able to experience recently with AmaWaterways.

The common spaces, including the lounge areas and a small library and bar, are great places to relax after a day in port or to enjoy entertainment like listening to the piano player. You'll sail to and visit lovely French cities and villages on this itinerary, including Lyon, Beaujolais, Vienne, Tournon and Hermitage, Avignon, and Arles. My wife and I have just returned from our Amawaterways Rhine River in Europe from Amsterdam to Basel. Let me tell you, it was a great experience to cruise on this truly luxurious Europe river cruise. AmaLucia offers an environment of casual luxury, along with an incredibly welcoming staff.

French Wine and Food on a River Cruise in France on the Rhone River

We loved our AmaWaterways Colors of Provence cruise on the Rhône River. Our experience on AmaKristina during this time of year was incredibly memorable. The temperatures were perfect, and we lucked out with sunshine almost daily. Because of this, the guests hardly noticed an impending strike that could have very much affected the cruise. Luckily, AmaWaterways knew a lock workers strike would affect the fifth day of our cruise.

We had fun with new friends in the evenings, enjoying the entertainment and dancing the night away in the Main Lounge and at parties on the sun deck. I was impressed with the consistently high quality of our meals and the personalized, attentive service on the AmaLucia. AmaLucia’s dining areas include the Main Restaurant, the panoramic Al Fresco Terrace, and the elegant Chef’s Table complimentary dining venue.

Our favorite grocery shop in France is Carrefour; most any sizable French city has one. The third largest wine region of the 14 in France is the Rhône area, which has 175K acres of vineyards. In addition, as we explain in more depth below, be sure to go on the Paul Bocuse Les Halles Market Food Tour in Lyon if you’re an epicurean or even the slightest bit interested in French food and drinks.

Swiss Alps & Rhine Castles

Strasbourg’s grande-île an urban island created by a tributary of the rhine and a canal is a Unesco world heritage site filled with cobblestone streets enticing shops and sidewalk cafes. Our journey began by taking a bus and embarking on an awe-inspiring guided tour through the breathtakingly beautiful ancient ruins of Heidelberg Castle. We ventured around the old town and down Drosselgasse, a charming cobblestone street lined with lively taverns, sophisticated boutiques, picturesque restaurants, and aromatic wine bars.

AmaPrima Dining Restaurant and Food

Switzerland’s breathtaking alpine mountains are a must-see, while Vienna’s old-world charm will leave a lasting impression. With the help of our expert tour agent, you’ll have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in each country’s culture and gain firsthand knowledge of its history. My AmaLucia stateroom featured AmaWaterways’ signature twin balconies, providing beautiful views from both the French balcony and a full-size veranda equipped with comfortable chairs. Walk through thousands of years of history in the medieval towns of Rothenburg, Bamberg and Miltenberg. Revel in the architectural gems on display and discover the Alsatian capital of France, Strasbourg and savor local flavors like rich Rüdesheimer coffee and hearty Bamberg smoked beer. All this and more awaits you as you experience the many medieval treasures of Europe.

The Chef’s Table is a reservation-only gourmet culinary experience featuring an exquisite multi-course tasting menu paired with complimentary wines. The Main Restaurant serves three mouthwatering meals daily, with menus featuring fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and regional cuisine, including exceptional meats and seafood. Wines, beer, and soft drinks are complimentary with meals, and a tapas menu is available in the lounge. Drink in the beauty, history and flavor of the Rhine and Moselle river valleys’ iconic vineyards.

Our knowledgeable cruise manager provided expert commentary on the Upper Middle Rhine Valley’s castles, the area’s stories and legends, the massive Loreley Rock, and the iconic statue that bears the siren’s name. The crew made the experience even more memorable by serving Rüdesheimer coffee (more on this adult beverage later) and an elaborate barbeque lunch on the sun deck. I’m sailing from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland, on the 156- passenger AmaLucia, which was christened in 2022. One of the newest ships in the company’s fleet, it offers two dining options (a main restaurant and the dinner-only Chef’s Table, which seats 32 guests), a spa, a walking track, and complimentary beer and wine. On the 10-night Rhine & Moselle Delights cruise, you can visit Trier, the “Pearl of the Moselle,” which beckons you to delve into its vibrant history shaped by its Roman founders.

It’s no secret that river-cruise passengers tend to be older, but this company is a go-to for those who like to start the day with vigorous bike rides and cap it off with a vineyard-side wine tasting. To that end, each ship has an onboard wellness instructor who organizes daily activities, including yoga, cardio workouts, and dance classes. AmaWaterways also offers shore excursions, ranging from a gentle cable car ride over vineyards to a Black Forest hike. Pages from fairytales come to life as you find inspiration along the fabled, castle-laden Rhine and its breathtaking tributary, the Moselle, with fascinating scenery of Europe’s steepest vineyards lining its shores. Colorful canals and glistening lakes, hilltop towns and majestic alps, mighty fortresses and storied castles, and hearty beer and delicate wines can all be experienced on this fairytale journey through time.

Cherish all the glory of the season in grand European style as you cruise along the Rhine. With a wealth of fascinating destinations to visit along the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers, we have specially curated a variety of unique 7-to-14-night itineraries for you to choose from in every delightful season. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the itinerary schedule provided with your final documents.

The change included more logistics and coordination than most guests probably realized. As such, the guests boarded buses to reach the boat from Tournon after our morning tours; the ship was further along the Rhone River after our excursions than where we disembarked that morning. As soon as the guests disembarked AmaKristina in Tournon, the ship sailed away to make it to the next location. This smart move was the captain’s solution to deal with the strike and stay on course for our Colors of Provence itinerary. During previous trips in recent years, we were affected by a Lufthansa airline strike before our barge cruise with European Waterways and again for our Bordeaux summer river cruise with Viking. Another unexpected Rhone River challenge had nothing to do with water levels; it had to do with the locks being affected by a strike!

The Rhine River is the setting for one of Europe’s most popular river cruise itineraries. Typically sailing the length of the river between Amsterdam and Basel, these enchanting Rhine River cruises visit the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Switzerland. This memorable journey of discovery is a rich cocktail of delights perfectly suited for those who love spectacular scenery, history, culture, wine, and outstanding cuisine. After touring the castle, we had ample time to explore this old city with its array of shops and boutiques. We strolled along the riverside, relishing in a tranquil outdoor café while savoring German beers and delectable food.

If you love science, you’ll be intrigued to know that the cruise passes three nuclear power plants. Nuclear power is the primary way most of the towns in Provence get power. Baguettes are less than €1 per piece at any market or supermarket you visit in France.

It’s an included tour option on the AmaWaterways Colors of Provence cruise. You will not feel immersed in French cuisine when you sail on this cruise, like during a land trip to Provence. That’s generally true of most cruises, whose cuisine needs to cater to a broad audience. The sun was shining, and the skies were blue as we pulled away from the port, turned away from the attractive Pont d’Universite bridge, and sailed south. While we have always had positive experiences with French people, including Parisians, you may have heard “rumors” that French people are rude. We will talk about it for the rest of our tour with many pictures to savor.

2024 Christmas Holiday Season Carnival Cruise Line

carnival christmas cruise 2023

Carnival has numerous departure cities depending on your preferences or travel requirements. Are you close to Galveston, Texas, or Charleston, South Carolina? You’ll have plenty of options to choose from, even if you live elsewhere. Whether you want to travel to the Caribbean, Mexico, The Bahamas or another destination, you’ll discover numerous ways to enjoy a Christmas cruise in the tropics. A way that didn’t require long drives or hours in a warm kitchen.

Carnival Cruises Holiday Events Schedule 2023

Hanukkah services will also be held each night from December 7-14, including a menorah lighting. A special production show to celebrate Christmas and other holidays of the season will be also be performed, and guests can join in the festivities with Carol-oke – karaoke featuring the favorite tunes of the season. The Dive-In Movies will be Christmas and holiday favorites as well, with timeless laughs to share.

Our Services

Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald has revealed the Main Dining Room Christmas Gala Dinner menu for the Carnival fleet, with amazing dishes on offer for a truly delicious dinner to celebrate the season. This is a very good story for Carnival, and for the cruise industry more broadly. And it is important to note that cruises are usually booked well in advance. Carnival, for example, locked in a record $6.4 billion in customer deposits in the final quarter of 2023, up 31% since the fourth quarter of 2019.

Celebrating Holidays

“I wanted to share the Christmas decorating schedule with you as our professional decoratists deck the decks with holly, ivy and of course the big tree,” Heald said. Carnival Cruise Line's Christmas dinner menu has festive options for every course, from appetizers to dessert. Simply put, with the price of a trip to someplace like Walt Disney's hugely popular Disney World on the rise, choosing a cruise is an increasingly compelling option. To put a number on that, a one-day ticket to Disney World runs around $150 per person. Every ship in the fleet will be decked out in holiday adornments, with the first vessels decorated as early as Friday, November 25, 2022.

Onboard Communication

It is likely that many of the customers who have made deposits will be new-to-cruise customers. And while customers can cancel, most of the deposits the cruise line has collected will likely turn into full payment. In 2023, we captured over 3.5 million new-to-cruise guests and remain well-positioned to continue to take share from land-based alternatives. In other words, we are gaining momentum in our ability to close the unwarranted value gap to land-based alternatives. And to aid in that effort, we can further champion the fact that while many land-based alternatives have pulled back on service levels, we still deliver incredible service to our guests, thanks to our amazing crew.

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to remove decorations before the new year officially begins, such as if a ship is entering a dry dock or beginning an extensive longer sailing that will take it far from where holiday decorations may be stored. Occasionally, decorations must be shipped to different homeports, and that may delay a ship’s decorating schedule until later in the season to ensure the proper materials and supplies arrive for the full decorating ensemble. Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald has announced the holiday decorating schedule for each of the line’s 25 current vessels, as well as when the upcoming Carnival Jubilee will also be showcasing festive décor. Ahead of the official start of the 2023 holiday season, Carnival Cruise Line has announced the dates for when each ship in the fleet will be decked out in its holiday finest. While the Main Dining Room selections are certainly offering an elegant Christmas dinner, guests can also enjoy delicious favorites at other dining venues onboard every Carnival ship.

Thinking about a holiday in 2023?

An early evening countdown and balloon drop is usually planned for younger guests, and at midnight a massive deck party and sounding the ship’s horn is Carnival’s traditional way to ring in the new year. The first ships to be decorated will be Carnival Liberty and Carnival Radiance, which will debut their new holiday decorations on Friday, November 25. As you embark on your first day, you’ll immediately notice the Christmas decorations found throughout the ship. From wreaths to jingle bells to the ever popular mistletoe (pucker up!), each ship will leave no doubt that the holiday season is well underway. Stunning Christmas trees are set up in various parts of the ship too. Decorations will be removed at the beginning of January, depending on when each ship turns around for the first non-holiday sailing after New Year’s Eve and when decorations can be properly stored to await the 2024 holiday season.

Carnival Celebration will be offering 7-8 night roundtrip Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami through the holiday season. Carnival Liberty is homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida, offering short 3-4 night sailings to The Bahamas, while Carnival Radiance is sailing from Long Beach, California, with 3-4 night itineraries to Baja, Mexico. For the holiday season, our Spirit of the Season Moments and Holiday Show will be featured on several sail dates prior to Christmas. The Christmas festivities, which begin the day after Thanksgiving and run through December 25, culminate in a delicious Christmas dinner. This dinner features traditional favorites like the Christmas turkey (oven-roasted with all trimmings) and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Carnival Cruise Lines Christmas and New Year cruises are the best choice for an unforgettable "Fun Ship" Holiday vacation marked by some of the cheapest deals on medium- and big-sized ocean vessels.

Carnival Christmas Dinner Menu Released

Guests can also try their hand to be the best at Christmas and holiday arts and crafts. Guests can use the details to be sure and pack an ugly holiday sweater, hone their holiday trivia knowledge, or otherwise be prepared to join in all the festive fun. Carnival’s ships will remain fully in festive mode through January 1, 2024, but will typically lose their decorations on the first turnaround day in the new year, even if that is January 2 or 3. The very first guests to sail on the new ship, which debuts from Galveston, Texas on December 23, will be the first ever to see her holiday celebrations.

This pairs exceedingly well with the expansive amount of guest-pleasing amenities offered on board our newer fleet. Some ships will also feature “snow” in the ship’s atrium for an extra magical experience to welcome the holiday season. While decorations vary for each ship and the space available onboard, they typically include lighted trees in the atrium area, garlands along the promenade, and other beautiful and elegant touches of bows, holly, ivy, twinkle lights, wreaths, and more. Regardless of your port of call, you’ll have numerous opportunities to enjoy the Christmas season, tropical-style. Exploring the streets and beaches of each city might reveal unexpected festivals and celebrations sure to delight the senses. You’ll also want to join in on shore excursions that let you get up close and personal with nature, take part in extreme adventures and enjoy unforgettable local cuisine.

You will enjoy specially-planned events, timely decorations and special seasonal dishes.Events and activities may vary by ship and are subject to change. A holiday cruise can be an amazing experience to look forward to, but what can you expect onboard? The schedule for decorating different cruise ships for the holidays depends on a variety of factors.

Dessert will include several decadent holiday treats, including eggnog cheesecake with raspberry cremeux, spiced cream, and mint “snow” for extra flair. Bourbon pecan pie and buche de Noel – a chocolate log with coffee anglaise and honey oat crumble – will also be available for even more seasonal sweets. For an extra charge, guests can also opt for Steakhouse Selections – a great option for an extra-special holiday dinner.
